Our Journey towards creating a more sustainable & eco friendly hair salon
A core value of our team is to always do more with less.
This has lead us to introduce daily practices that ensure we can habitually reduce, reuse & recycle all products and resources in our salons and workspaces.
We also partner with some carefully selected green superstars to help us conserve resources and reduce our impact on the environment.
What is our Green Fee?
We allocate £2 from each visit towards the cost of specialist recycling and creating more sustainable salon services.
Ethically Made Hair Products
It was a natural choice to partner with Aveda, who are world leaders in creating the highest quality hair and beauty products that care for you and the planet.
The art and science of pure flower and plant essences is the core of aveda. Using ingredients that are naturally derived, ethically sourced, vegan & cruelty free.
All Aveda products manufactured using 100% renewable energy, using the most environmentally sound materials and as much post-consumer recycled (PCR) content as commercially possible without affecting the efficacy of the product.

Reducing Colour Waste
In our continuous effort to be sustainable, we’ve integrated Vish software into our hair colouring process.
By allowing us to measure and track what we use, it significantly reduces the amount of colour we mix giving our stylists precisely the amount needed.
The precise measurements ensure consistent, perfect results for our clients every time.
By reducing any excess hair colour from being mixed, we minimise the chemicals being disposed of.
Recycling the unrecyclable
We are proud to partner with Green Salon Collective, an pioneering company whose focus is to find circular solutions for salon waste through recycling, recovery and composting.
Every week, Green Salon Collective collect our hair cuttings, chemical waste, towels, used foil & colour tubes.
They can use our hair cuttings to make hair booms that can clean up oil spills or make nitrogen rich compost to grow food.
They also recycle our metal waste including contaminated foil/ colour tubes and prevent chemical waste from our hair colour entering landfill or waterways.

Zero to Landfill
We use First Mile as our primary waste management service in both our salons. They use a carbon-neutral truck for our business waste collections and environmentally friendly waste sack deliveries via bicycle.
With a strict zero-to-landfill policy, non recyclable waste goes towards generating green electricity. By utilising their innovative waste tracking technology we can measure our environmental impact & CO2 emissions.
We partner with First Mile to help us towards our aligned mission of recycling 100% of the waste that our salons produce.
Energy Saving Towels
In 2018, we decided to make the switch to Scrummi’s eco friendly, disposable towels. Here’s why:
They save energy by reducing our electrical usage from the constantly washing & drying towels and also cause less water contamination from washing.
They are 100% hygienic as every towel used is brand new and although they are disposable, they are sustainably made. 3 trees are planted for every one that is harvested.
They can also be disposed of with any other organic/ biodegradable waste and composted.

Water Saving Taps
Our salons need a lot of clean water to deliver our services, but we don’t take this for granted.
That’s why we have fitted specialised ECOHEAD taps to all of our hair wash basins.
Their genius design helps to massively reduce water & energy usage by up to 65%. They also increase water pressure and remove sediment, rust, and sand.
This means cleaner hair and a better experience for you, when visiting the salon.
Toilet paper that builds toilets
Every day, 27,000 trees are cut down just to make regular toilet paper. That’s a big no-no for us, that’s why we use ‘Who gives a crap’.
Our salon toilet rolls are made using 100% recycled materials, helping to reduce deforestation.
They also provide our hand tissues which are made from bamboo, which is a grass, not a tree and it grows incredibly quickly, making it a sustainable source for tissues.
B corp certified, plastic free packaging, carbon neutral shipping and 50% of profits is donated towards access to clean water and a toilets for those in need. So far they’ve raised over £5.3 million.

Non-Toxic Cleaning Products
In order to keep our salons immaculately clean and sanitised, we’ve chosen Delphis as our cleaning partner.
Delphis products are formulated without harmful chemicals, ensuring a safer environment for both our staff, clients and the planet.
Their refillable packaging, made from recycled materials, ensures minimal waste.
Choosing Delphis aligns with our values of sustainable, effective cleaning without compromising on performance.
Renewable energy for our salons
We switched to Octopus Energy as it is known for its commitment to renewable energy sources. They offer 100% renewable electricity and they invest in sustainable energy projects.
They also allow us offset our carbon emissions associated with non-green energy consumption such as any natural gas we use for heating.
We love the long term vision of Octopus and even though they aren’t the lowest cost energy supplier, it’s important that we work with a company ethos is aligned with our own.
